The brain processes hearing signals from both ears for improved clarity and a more balanced sound. You will be able to hear much better with two personal sound amplifiers; your satisfaction with the devices will be much higher. If you use only one personal sound amplifier but have hearing difficulty in both ears, the brain has to process two different sound and clarity levels, which makes it more difficult to obtain a clear understanding of the sound signal. Additionally, you will save more if you purchase two personal sound amplifiers at the same time as opposed to buying them separately.
Both LifeEar BOOST and LifeEar ACTIVE models use size 10, zinc-air batteries that can be found at many local stores as well as online retailers.
Most users experience five to seven days’ worth of battery life depending on the usage.
Store batteries in their original packaging as loose batteries kept in a jar or bowl may result in the batteries shorting before they are used.
Remember zinc-air batteries need a period of time in contact with the air to fully charge before use. Waiting at least 60 seconds after removing the sticky-tab. This time allows the battery to reach its full potential and will assure that you get the longest battery life.
Make sure all of the residue from the sticky-tab is removed from the battery before placing it in your LifeEar®. Open the LifeEar device’s battery door overnight to allow any moisture inside the device to air out or store your LifeEar Personal Sound Amplifiers in a dehumidifier unit or “dry box” especially designed for hearing devices.
Every LifeEar® Personal Sound Amplifier comes with a one year manufacturer’s warranty covering any defects in materials and workmanship.
In the event of a malfunction within the warranty period, please contact LifeEar Support with the details of your issue.

Each ear is unique and everyone’s hearing is slightly different. The LifeEar line of personal sound amplification products (PSAP) are designed to amplify the most useful frequencies, such as the sounds associated with human speech. The devices are not customized to your hearing, however they do arrive pre-set with four separate amplification programs which are designed to assist in the most common hearing situations. Think of it as buying a suit of the rack verses going to a custom tailor for a bespoke suit.
Ringing in the ears is most commonly caused by nerve-related hearing damage. PSAP are not designed to cure, or treat the ringing in your ears, but the ringing may become less noticeable when you are using one.
LifeEar BOOST FAQ
LifeEar® comes assembled with the brand-new LifeEar® Tip, a uniquely-shaped, flexible, medical-grade silicone tip, which is curved like your ear canal, giving you the comfort of a custom ear mold with any of the hassle or long wait times.
If the standard LifeEar Tip does not fit your ear canal, is either too large or too small, the tip can be swapped out easily for a more appropriate sized tip. For larger ear canals we have included a Large Power Tip with your LifeEar. For smaller or oddly-shaped ear canals, we can send you a set of more traditional, circular domes that may better fit your ear canal.
LifeEar® arrives at your door assembled with the brand-new LifeEar Tip and Tubing. Due to the shape of the LifeEar Tip, it is important that the tip is placed in the ear correctly for maximum comfort and sound quality.
Please follow these steps to ensure the LifeEar Tip is properly seated in your ear:
- Verify the correct LifeEar Tip is attached to the correct LifeEar Tubing. The LifeEar Tips have an embossed L (left ear) or R (right ear) and the tubing has a blue (left ear) 2B or red (right ear) 2B marking where the Ear Lock attaches to the tubing
- Place the LifeEar Tip in your ear canal first, holding the tip vertically, with the long portion of the tip on top
- Move the body of the LifeEar securely and comfortably behind your ear, making sure the LifeEar Tip remains firmly in the ear.
Every ear canal is a different, and while our standard size LifeEar® Tip fits many, it does not fit everyone. If after trying the standard LifeEar Tip you are experiencing trouble with the fit, either too loose or too tight, we do have a few alternatives to help you.
For larger ear canals, we have included a Power Tip with every LifeEar. This tip can be easily swapped onto the LifeEar for a more snug fit as well as a small boost in overall volume gain over the standard LifeEar Tip.
The accessories bag includes both a LifeEar® Power Tip as well as an additional adapter. This adapter is required to put the Power Tip on the tubing. Please refer to the following diagram for instructions on how the tubing assembly goes together.
Many people successful wear both eyeglasses and LifeEar® Personal Sound Amplifiers. For best results, put your glasses on first. Place the LifeEar body between your glasses and your outer ear. To avoid problems when removing your glasses or putting them back on, resist tilting your glasses up or down as you take them off or put them on.
